5 Days Virunga and Bwindi gorilla trekking
5 Days Virunga and Bwindi gorilla trekking : Apart from Volcanoes National park and Mgahinga, Bwindi and Virunga are the other only parks were you have a chance to see the endangered mountain gorillas. There are a lot of endemic bird species will meet in Bwindi and Virunga has the highest number of vegetation species in Africa and it is high in the ranks in the world. Virunga is also a UNESCO world heritage site and therefore just brace yourself for this wonderful five days of everlasting memories.
Day One: Arrival and Transfer to Bwindi
Since you will not be visiting any other national parks in Uganda, It is advisable that you go through Kigali on your way to Bwindi as it will just take you about 5 hours compared to the 9 hours from Entebbe. The guide will meet you at the airport and will take you through this. In Bwindi you will head to the Rushaga section of Bwindi. Dinner and stay at Nshongi camp. FB
Day Two: Gorilla Tracking
After an early breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for gorilla tracking briefing before you head out to hike in search of these endangered species. The trek is usually about 2 hours and then you will spend an hour with the gorillas. Please follow the instructions of your ranger and guide through this activity. The entire activity should be about 6 hours. Depending on your energy levels, you may have and after lunch community walk to interact with the people around the national park. Dinner and stay at Nshongi camp. FB
Day Three: Transfer To Virunga National Park
Today you will have breakfast and check out of the lodge as you transfer to the Virunga national Park in the DRC via Queen Elizabeth National Park and the Mpondwe boarder point. On your journey through Queen Elizabeth national park you will encounter a lot of wild life, this park has the best animal concentration in Uganda and the highlights of the day could be the tree climbing lions. Dinner and overnight at Mikeno lodge/Bukima tented camp. FB
Day Four: Gorilla Tracking in Virunga.
After an early morning breakfast you will head to the Virunga Park headquarters for a briefing before trekking. The search for the mountain gorillas will take about 2 hours then one hour with the gorilla snd you will head back to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch you will be taken around in the nearby communities to interact with the local and share how they lead life then return to the lodge.
Day Five: Transfer Back to Kigali and Depature.
After a great adventure the previous day, today you will have break fat and drive back to Kigali for you flight back home. On this day you can go interacting with several communities on the way and if you are a bird watcher, just keep you binoculars on a stand by and you will be rewarded. If your flight is a bit late you can have a day room in Kigali just to refresh before the journey home.
