This 5 Days Congo Rwanda Gorilla safari is filled with a lot of highlights. From the special encounter with the mountain gorillas to the Lava Lake at the summit of the Nyiragongo crater. This tour by achieve Global safaris will start from Kigali through Gisenyi to Congo and back to Kigali
On this safari, you may choose to do a hike to mountain Nyiragongo or track gorillas in Virunga though you also have a chance to track them in Volcanoes National Park.
Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Lake Kivu
guide will pick you from the airport in Kigali and then you will transfer to Gisenyi area around Lake Kivu. Depending on the time of arrival, if you are early, you will be in time to do an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Kivu. Dinner and overnight at Paradise Malahide/Kivu Serena Hotel. FB
Day 2: Transfer to Congo for Hiking Mount Nyiragongo
You will have breakfast and transfer to Kibati point were the hike to Nyiragongo begins via the Goma boarder. This will take you about one hour. The hike begins at 10am and be sure to catch it. If you are not for the hike then special arrangement will be made for you to do gorilla tracking instead. Dinner and overnight at the top shelters. FB
Day 3: Descend the Volcano and transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Today we shall descent to the bottom of the mountain and then transfer to Volcanoes National Park. We shall intend to be in Goma by lunch time then we cross the border such that we are in time to enter the park before 6pm. Alternatively we may stay in Goma for the night in case we are lake and we shall be in time for gorilla tracking in the next morning since it just about 30 mins to Volcanoes National Park. Dinner and Overnight at Mikeno Lodge (luxury)/ Bukima Lodge (Midrange). FB
Day 4: Gorilla trekking/ Golden Monkey Tracking.
Enjoy your breakfast and head to the park headquarters with packed lunch to be briefed about the dos and don’ts while with the gorillas then proceed to track the gorillas. You may choose to do golden Monkey tracking instead that if in case you did gorilla tracking and don’t want to do it again. Dinner and overnight stay at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge. FB
Day 5: Visit Dian Fossey Tombs and Transfer to Kigali
Depending on the time of your flight, you have several activities to do today before you head out to the airport.
– hike to Dian fossey grave yard / tombs
– Golden Monkey tracking
– Ibyiwacu cultural village among others
Later transfer to Kigali for a city tour or flight back home.
