4 Days Gorillas and Nyiragongo hike : In these four days safari, you are going to have a special encounter with the endangered mountain gorillas and also reach the summit of an active volcano. Nyiragongo is a mountain of wonders and you will enjoy the lava lake at the peak, it has erupted about 34 times in recent time the last one being in 2002. This safari will present to you a life changing experience as you explore this rich but a bit remote country.

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and transfer to the Mikeno Lodge at Rumangabo.

You will be met by our executive guide who will then take you to the lodge. It’s about 3-4 hours to Virunga National Park and several stop overs will be arranged like to the genocide memorial and several other museums. The journeys to Virunga will take you through magnificent sceneries and landscape, the natural setting and welcoming people. Stay at Mikeno Lodge or Bukima Tented Camp. FB

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Virunga National Park

After breakfast, your guide will take you to the park headquarters for briefing and here you will be divided into groups and you will head off for this much waited adventure. The trek will take you about 2 hours and then you will spend another hour with the gorillas.

You will head back to the lodge for lunch and after lunch you will be taken for a community walk were you will have a chance to interact with the local and learn more about the Congolese culture. After, you can then return back to your lodge for the late meal and leisure. FB

Day 3: Hike the Nyiragongo Volcano

Early morning breakfast today and we shall head to Kibat station where the hike to Nyiragongo begins. Here you will be brief and you will set off at around 10am. The hike to the summit usually takes about 6 hours depending on your energy levels. The hike is a bit tiring and hot at times since this is a volcanic mountain. At the summit you will enjoy good scenery of the lava lake and relax at the top of this volcano, the bird count here is rewarding. You will spend the night in the tents on the edge of the huge crater.

Day 4: Descend from Nyiragongo Volcano and transfer to Kigali

Today you will descent to the bottom of the mountain after your breakfast, this is usually faster than the hike and when you get to the Kibat station, and your guide will be waiting for you for a transfer back to Kigali and then your flight home.
