Detailed Itinerary for 7 Days Uganda Safari from Kigali
Day 1: Pick up and Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
You will be picked from your hotel in Kigali and go for a tour of the remarkable Kigali city – visiting Kimironko local market where you will interact with the locals and try a bargain on the local produce and the genocide memorial site where you will learn more about the terrible 1994 genocide. Have lunch and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park through Cyanika boarder and arriving Bwindi – the home of Uganda gorillas in the evening. Dinner and overnight at your selected lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
You will enjoy early morning breakfast and transfer to the park headquarters with your packed lunch and bottled drinking water for briefing by the park ranger guides at 7:00am. After briefing, you will start your gorilla trekking journey accompanied by the ranger guides in search of the mountain gorillas; this takes 2 to 8 hours depending on the movement of the gorillas. After the trek, you will enjoy your lunch packs and transfer back to your lodge for relaxation. Dinner will be served at your lodge.
Day 3: Transfer to Kibale National Park – Bigodi nature walk (Optional activity)
After having your breakfast, checkout of your lodge in time. Meet up with your driver guide and embark on your drive to Kibale national park- the best safari destinations in Africa for chimpanzee tracking. You will have a stopover for lunch, then connect top your booked lodge or do an optional nature walk for a 2-3 hours’ nature walk in Bigodi wetland. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge in Kibale National Park.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking – transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
After breakfast, you will go for chimpanzee trekking with your packed food and water. Meet your guide at the head office then enter the rainforest to start searching for the chimpanzee, this will take 2-5 hours to find the chimpanzees. On seeing them, you will spend 1 hour with the chimpanzees while taking pictures.
After tracking, you will refresh at the lodge then proceed to transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This is a 3 hours’ drive from Fort portal with en-route visit of the crater lakes. You will then retire back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Morning Game drive and Boat cruise
Very early morning, meet your guide for a morning game drive good number of wildlife including Elephants, Giraffes, Buffaloes and all species of antelopes. You will enjoy a bush breakfast. Return to the lodge and have lunch.
After enjoying your lunch at the lodge, go for your boat trip along the Kazinga channel for yet another wildlife/bird watching experience as you cruise on lake Edward/George. Dinner and overnight stay at lodge as above.
Day 4: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park – boat trip or walking safari
After breakfast, you will meet with your safari driver and connect to Lake Mburo National park. It’s a 4-5 hours’ drive with en-route stop at the Uganda Equator and en-route lunch. The park is the smallest of Uganda’s savannah national parks. Proceed to Lake Mburo National Park and connect for an afternoon boat trip on Lake Mburo for different animals like hippos and land animals and different birds or connect for a walking safari where you will explore the park on foot while viewing animals like the Giraffes, Zebras, Kobs, waterbucks etc. Return in the evening to prepare for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Morning game drive and transfer back to Kampala/Entebbe
Morning game drive – Early morning after breakfast, head out for a game drive in search for the early risers on a good day you may spot the lions and the leopards. Other animals to find include; Giraffes, Zebras, Impalas, waterbucks, Buffaloes, warthogs, just to mention a few. Do not forget to carry your camera in order to keep all your memories forever intact and also to ensure not to miss out a detail on your amazing trip. Return to the lodge for lunch.
