Detailed Itinerary for 7 Days Best of Uganda Safari.
Day 0: Pick up and transfer to the hotel in Entebbe
Based on your arrival time at Entebbe International Airport on the first day of the 7 Days Best of Uganda safari, you will be met by a hotel representative and transferred to your allocated hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 1: Transfer to Kibale national park
On the first day of the 7 Days Best of Uganda safari, after breakfast, you will be greeted by our driving guide, who will brief you on the safari before beginning your travel to Kibale Forest National Park in western Uganda. The journey takes around 5 to 6 hours, during which you will have lunch and experience breathtaking views of the lovely countryside, terrain, tea plantation, Rwenzori Mountains, and crater lakes, among others. Upon arriving at Kibale National Park, you will continue to your choice lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and Bigodi swamp walk
On the second day of the 7 Days Best of Uganda safari, after an early breakfast, your driver guide will pick you up from the lodge and transport you to the Kanyachu park headquarters for a chimp trekking orientation. Following the briefing, you will begin hiking into the jungle, which will take between 30 minutes and 4 hours depending on where the chimps are located. During your trip, you will see other primates such as l’Hoest monkeys, red tailed monkeys, vervet monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, grey cheeked mangabeys, and a variety of bird species.
Once the chimpanzees are located, you will be permitted to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat, where you will be able to view them feeding, playing, fighting, hunting, resting, observing their habits, taking photographs, and recording movies.
After the one-hour interaction with the chimps, you will return to the park headquarters to meet your driving guide before returning to the resort for lunch.
After lunch, you will go on an interesting swamp walk in Bigodi sanctuary to see a variety of bird species, mammals such as otters, bush pigs, Sitatunga, bushbucks, and primates such as blue monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, grey cheeked mangabeys, vervet monkeys, and l’Hoest monkeys, among others. After the nature walk you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight as above.
Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park
On the third day of the 7 Days Best of Uganda safari, you will have a leisurely breakfast before checking out of the lodge and meeting your driver guide for a trip to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s second biggest national park. On the trip, you will see amazing views of the terrain and landscape, and once at the park, you will check into the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, you will rest at the lodge before heading out for an evening game drive to see creatures like as buffaloes, elephants, Uganda kobs, warthogs, and waterbucks, among others. After the game drive, you’ll return to your lodge for supper and an overnight stay.
Day 4: Morning game drive/ lion tracking experience and afternoon boat cruise
Following an early breakfast on the fourth day of your 7-day Best of Uganda safari, your driving guide will pick you up from the resort for a morning wildlife drive on the Kasenyi Plains. During the game drive, you will be able to see elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, Uganda kobs, and waterbucks grazing on broad savannah plains, as well as predators such as lions, leopards, and hyenas out for a morning hunt, and many bird species. After the wildlife drive, you will return to the resort for lunch.
After lunch, you will have an exciting boat tour on the Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake Edward and Lake George. During the 2- to 3-hour boat trip, you will be able to see vast herds of hippos and Nile crocodiles in the water, as well as buffaloes, elephants, warthogs, and waterbucks drinking along the banks, as well as water birds like as hornbills, cormorants, fish eagles, and kingfishers, among others. After the boat cruise, you will return to the lodge for an evening of leisure, supper, and overnight stay, as described above.
Day 5: Transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park
On the fifth day of the 7-day Best of Uganda safari, you will have a leisurely breakfast, check out of the accommodation, and meet your driver guide for the travel to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. On the route, you will stop in Ishasha sector, in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park, to see the famed tree climbing lions, who will be peacefully reclining up on acacia and fig tree branches.
After the game drive in the Ishasha sector, you will have lunch before continuing your journey to the park, which will provide you with stunning views of the lovely scenery, countryside, Kigezi hills, terraced farmlands, and more. Upon arrival in Bwindi impenetrable national park you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Day 6: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park
On the sixth day of your 7-day Best of Uganda safari, after an early breakfast, you will bring a packed lunch and meet your driver guide at the park headquarters for a gorilla hike briefing. Following the briefing, you will begin hiking in the forest, which will take between 30 minutes and 7 hours depending on where the gorillas are found, since they tend to wander from one location to another in quest of food.
During trekking, you will be able to see other primate species, various bird species, and plants, among other things, and once the mountain gorillas are located, you will be able to spend one hour with them in their natural habitat, observing their behaviors and watching them carry out their daily activities such as feeding, playing, breastfeeding, grooming young ones, taking photos, and recording videos. Following the one-hour experience with the gentle giants, you will return to the lodge for leisure, supper, and an overnight stay, as described above.
Day 7: Departure to Kampala
On the final day of the 7-day Best of Uganda safari, after a leisurely breakfast, you will check out of the lodge and meet your driver guide for the return journey to Kampala. On the way, you will stop at Mbarara for lunch before continuing your journey to the Equator in Kayabwe, where you will snap photographs and buy souvenirs. From the Equator, you will travel to Kampala in the early evening, where your driver guide will drop you off at Entebbe International Airport or any other convenient location.
