Day 1: Pickup from Kigali and Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Depending on your location in Kigali, on the first day of the three-day gorilla habituation safari in Uganda from Kigali, you will be greeted by our driver guide, who will brief you on the safari. You will first embark on a short tour of Kigali city where you will be visiting Kigali Genocide Memorial Center, Caplaki craft market and Richard Kandt Museum. Have lunch before beginning the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, which takes about 4 to 5 hours and passes through the Cyanika border in Kisoro or the Katuna border in Kabale. Along the route, you will get wonderful views of Rwanda’s undulating hills, terraced farmlands, and gorgeous countryside. Upon arrival at the park, you will check into the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi’s Rushaga Sector
After breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters with your packed lunch to receive a gorilla trekking briefing. Your guide will go over all of the dos and don’ts of spending time with mountain gorillas before transporting you to the gorilla family’s starting place. Please keep in mind that gorilla family distribution is determined by your hobbies, fitness level, and age. Please advise your guide of your preferences, and he will attempt to request the gorilla family of your choice before you begin your trip into the forest in case there is availability. Gorilla trekking may be tough; thus a certain degree of fitness is necessary.
