During this 3 days Uganda chimpanzee safari, you will be trekking habituated chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park in western Uganda. You will also embark on a guided nature walk in Bigodi Swamp where you will have an opportunity to view a number of bird species in the area including the highly sought after Shoebill stork.

Day 1: Hotel Pickup and Transfer to Kibale National Park.
Given your location, on the first day of the three-day chimpanzee trekking safari in Kibale National Park, you will be greeted by our representative, who will educate you about the Uganda Primate safari before beginning the travel to Kibale National Park in western Uganda. The journey takes about 5 to 6 hours via the Kampala-Mubende road; along the way, you will stop for lunch in Fort Portal and enjoy spectacular views of the beautiful landscape, traditional homesteads, local people, terraced farmlands, tea and banana plantations, views of the crater lakes, and the Rwenzori mountain ranges, to mention but a few. Once you arrive in Kibale national park, you will head straight to your lodge, check-in and relax for the rest of your evening.
Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking and Afternoon Bigodi Swamp Walk
Kibale Forest National Park is a rainy forest that is home to more than 1500 chimpanzees. During your morning chimpanzee trekking, you’ll get up close and personal with our closest cousins in the jungle as they groom themselves in a flurry of excitement!
Aside from chimpanzees, there are nine distinct species of monkeys in this Kibale forest, including red colobus, red tailed monkey, and bush babies. In the forest canopy colored aviation creatures-butterflies and various bird species like the native Great Blue Turaco, joyful greenbul, olive long tailed cuckoo and the superb black bee eater can be spotted.
Chimpanzee trekking in Kibale forest takes between 4-6 hours and you will be given an hour to spend with chimpanzees once you have located a chimpanzee family. After your trek, head back to your lodge for lunch and rest for a while.
Later in the afternoon, you will visit Bigodi Swamp where you will be doing a guided nature walk. You will get an opportunity to see a variety of bird species in the swamp including the prehistoric Shoebill Stork.
Later retire back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer Back to Kampala/Departure.
Transfer to Kampala/Entebbe: Have an early morning breakfast and embark on the drive back to Kampala with a stopover at equator monuments in Kayabwe and later lunch en-route. Drive back through to Kampala/Entebbe where your guide drops you off at your preferred destination/ location as you will advise.
