This 3 Days Kahuzi Biega Congo Gorilla Tour offers you a chance to track eastern lowland gorillas in Kahuzi Biega National Park which happen to be listed among the World Wildlife List of Critically Endangered Species. It stands out from other gorillas with its stocky build, huge hands, and short snout. Despite their size, eastern lowland gorillas, like other gorilla subspecies, feed mostly on fruit and other herbaceous materials.
You will travel from Kigali to the Rwanda-Congo border at Rusizi, where you will clear immigration before crossing into Congo, where our Congo agent will be waiting for you. You’ll drive to Bukavu to follow eastern lowland gorillas in Kahuzi Biega National Park.

Day 1: Pickup from Kigali and Transfer to Bukavu in Congo.
After completing your early morning breakfast at your hotel in Kigali or upon arriving at Kigali international airport with an early morning flight, you will be met by your driver guide, who will brief you briefly and drive you to Rubavu via Karongi for lunch in Rusizi at a local restaurant, before we proceed to Rubavu border post, where we will go through immigration, get a DRC visa, and cross over to DR Congo through Rubavu border to your booked lodge for dinner.
Day 2: Track Eastern Lowland Gorillas in Kahuzi Biega National Park.
After breakfast, you will have your first briefing at the park headquarters, where you will register and meet your assigned ranger guides before traveling to the park’s trekking starting point for your lowland gorilla adventure. You will then travel with your ranger guide, who will present you with valuable information on Kahuzi Biega National Park.
After visiting the gorillas, you will have an hour to observe them and take photos and movies of your choice, all under the supervision of your ranger guide. You will then return to your reserved hotel for drinks, lunch, and the afternoon at leisure. The lodge serves meals and offers overnight lodging.
Day 3: Transfer Back to Kigali
Today, upon completing your breakfast at your hotel, you will meet with your driver guide, go over the customary briefing, and then move to Rwanda via the Bukavu border. You will then travel to Kigali, where you will have lunch and have the opportunity to visit the Kigali genocide memorial sites, which remember the legacy of the over one million Rwandans slaughtered in 1994 through education and peace-building. You will be able to hear and watch video extracts from some of the incident’s survivors before heading to Kigali International Airport for your onward travel.
