Nyungwe forest national park fees : Nyungwe forest national park is one of the four national parks of Rwanda. The Nyungwe forest national park is located in the south western part of the country and is one of the most visited destinations by tourists in Rwanda. The Nyungwe forest national park is in close proximity with the land border of Rwanda and the DR Congo in the south west as well as the land border of Rwanda and Burundi in the south.

The Nyungwe forest national park is commonly visited for the chimpanzee trekking experience however this park has many more activities to offer such as Canopy bridge walk, birding experiences, nature walk, waterfall hikes, as well as other primate treks like colobus monkey trek, blue monkey or even grey cheeked mangabey treks.

Guided nature trails

Nyungwe forest national park has about 15 nature trails which guests can take on. These nature trails take visitors into the pristine forest and get lost in nature while enjoying the freshness of the park as well as do some birding or even a chance to spot some of the other primates. Some of these nature trails include Ngabwe trail, Bigugu trail, Congo Nile Divide trail, Muzimu trail, Rukuzi trail, Buhoro trail, Imbaraga trail, the Igishigishi trail one of the most common.

Foreign travelers will only pay 40 USD while the foreign Rwandan residents will only pay 30 USD. Rwandan citizens will pay 3,000 Rwandan francs and the foreign east African residents will pay 30 USD too. If you are interested in spending an extra day, the foreign visitors will pay 20 USD and the foreign residents will pay 15 USD and the Rwandan citizens will pay 1,500 Rwandan francs and 15 USD for the east African foreign residents interested in enjoying the nature trails.

Birding

Nyungwe forest being a home to over 300 different bird species, guests interested in birding can get a knowledgeable birding guide for a guided birding experience in this park. The guided birding walk goes for 50 USD for the foreign visitors, 40 USD for the foreign residents of Rwanda and 5,000 Rwandan francs for the Rwandan citizens.

Canopy adventure hike

For the Canopy walk way in Nyungwe forest, foreign visitors can access a permit at only 60 USD while the Rwandan foreign residents can access a permit at 50 USD and 5,000 USD for the Rwandan citizens. The canopy walk way in Rwanda is the best in East Africa and currently the only canopy in the area.

This is a 70 meter highly suspended bridge and a 160 meter long bridge giving you a view of the park from the top and is a great birding spot and also great opportunity to view the other primates and butterflies of the park.

Chimpanzee trekking

Chimpanzee trekking is the most commonly booked activity of the Nyungwe forest national park and this is a very thrilling experience. The foreign visitors can book a chimpanzee permit at 90 USD and 60 USD for the foreign Rwandan residents and 5,000 Rwandan francs for the Rwandan citizens.

Other primate trekking

Nyungwe forest national park is a home to 12 other primate species on top of being a home to the chimpanzees. You can visit any of these other primates like the black and white colobus monkey, grey cheeked mangabeys, the blue monkeys by purchasing a permit at 60 USD for the foreign visitors, 40 USD for the foreign Rwandan residents or 5,000 USD for the Rwandans.

Waterfall hike

There is a waterfall in the Nyungwe forest national park known as the Isumo waterfall and this is one of the activities offered. Get to hike through the forest on one of the trails of Nyungwe forest for about 4 to 5 hours and visit the waterfalls on the hike for the breathtaking view. A permit for this hike goes for 50 USD for the foreign visitors, 40 USD for the foreign Rwandan residents and 5,000 Rwandan francs for the Rwandans.
