Mountain Visoke
Mountain visoke or bisoke is one of the eight Virunga Volcanoes and it is found in Volcanoes national park in Rwanda.
It stands at 3700m tall and its shape it like a cone which depicts a perfect volcano. Its houses a deep crater on the summit.
For people interested in climbing it, this volcano does not demand a lot from you but still hiking is never that simple. The elevation of this mountain is steep since it’s a cone like structure and this is a bit demanding.
The whole excursion to the top of this mountain can take about 5 hours depending on the speed you are using otherwise it can even take a full day.
Descending usually takes about 3 hours. While you are climbing, you will definitely come across a series of vegetation like bamboo and lobelia bush as you approach the summit.
For hikers you will need a permit that costs USD75 per person this will be inclusive of a park ranger guide and you do not have to book this permit in advance but can purchase it on arrival at the park head quarters.
The trek to the top of the mountain starts at 7.00am from the volcanoes national park head quarters in Kinigi. From here all trekkers will be driven to the starting point and the hike will begin.
It is advisable that you hire a porter to help you with your bags such that you are not too tired to enjoy the adventure more so when you reach the summit. The porter will be less than USD20.
