6 Days Uganda Rwanda Primates Safari
Day 1: Pickup and Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast, you will leave Kampala early in the morning and head west through the verdant countryside of Uganda to Kibale Forest National Park. It will take six to seven hours to go across the savannah grasslands, which are peppered with traditional homesteads, banana and tea plantations, and beautiful scenery.
In the afternoon, you will arrive at Kibale Forest National Park and embark on the Bigodi swamp walk, which will lead you past local communities, swampy grassland, and some breathtaking vistas.
Along with a variety of uncommon bird species and other smaller mammals, it is common to encounter three or four different primate species throughout this stroll.
You will spend the night and dinner at the lodge where you made your reservation.
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trek in Kibale Forest and Drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, you will go to Kibale Forest to see the primates. The activity begins at 8 a.m. with a training on the guidelines for hiking the chimps, after which you will hunt for them in the jungle. The workout lasts half a day, and along the journey, you will witness various primates such as Grey-cheeked Mangabeys, Phoestes, Red-Colobus, and Blue-tailed and Red-tailed monkeys swinging in the dense forest trees.
Your guide will provide you with comprehensive briefings about the habits of the monkeys you will see, as well as the flora, insects, and butterflies in this forest, to ensure that your journey is not only educational but also entertaining.
Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise on Kazinga Channel
On the third day, you will leave early for a morning game drive, which is an incredible opportunity to see animals in their native habitats. Expect to witness the iconic Big Five, including elephants, buffalos, lions, bush bucks, kobs, giant forest pigs, hyenas, leopards, antelopes, and waterbucks, as well as birds.
You will return early lunch and have a launch cruise down the beautiful Kazinga Channel to observe large water species such as hippos, buffalos, crocodiles, and elephants bathing on the channel’s banks.
The lake banks are also home to a number of bird species, including the well-known Shoebill, Pelican, and Jacana. After your launch cruise on Kazinga channel, you will retire back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Morning Game Drive in Ishasha and Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, we’ll head to the Ishasha area of Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is famed for tree-climbing lions lazing in tree branches while keeping a watch out for herds of Uganda kob, their favorite prey. It is also home to many buffaloes, elephants, and endangered shoebill storks.
You will stop for lunch at one of the park’s lodges before driving south to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. En way to the Game Drive in Uganda & Gorillas in Rwanda Tour, you will pass through beautiful landscapes, bamboo forests, and scenic vistas of the western rift valley.
You will arrive in the late afternoon and then go to your reserved lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
You will enjoy an early breakfast before heading to the Park headquarters at 7:45 a.m. to join other trackers in a briefing on Gorilla trekking guidelines. You will hike through dense creepers and vegetation with your guides to discover the gorillas, which will take between 2 and 8 hours. The heavily wooded area is quite thick, yet it is crisscrossed with various animal pathways that people may access.
You will have one hour to spend with the gorillas once they are seen before being transferred to Volcanoes National Park. You will check into the lodge arranged for you in Ruhengeri, which is near to the park, and then proceed on a nature walk to the twin lakes.
You’ll return to the lodge for supper and overnight.
Day 6: Golden Monkey Trek and Transfer to Kigali
After breakfast, you will meet at the Park headquarters for a training on Golden Monkey tracking rules before heading out to follow them in the jungle. The trip will last around 1-2 hours, following which you will return to the resort for lunch and some rest.
In the afternoon, you will go to the Karisoke Research Centre, which has an exhibit on mountain gorillas and Dian Fossey’s conservation work. It also has Dian Fossey artifacts, a 3D interactive model of the Virunga Mountains, and castings of authentic gorilla nose prints. Overall, the facility provides an excellent learning experience for anyone unfamiliar with mountain gorillas. You will then proceed to Kigali for your departing flight.
