Detailed Itinerary for 6 Days Kenya and Tanzania Family Safari

Day 1: Pickup and Transfer to Maasai Mara National Reserve

You will have an early morning journey to the Maasai Mara National Reserve. It is one of the few areas on the planet where species may still be found in the numbers that used to roam the African plains and woods. As the northernmost point of the huge Serengeti ecosystem, the Mara hosts the stunning seasonal migration of thousands of wildebeests, zebras, and predators. Arrive in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon wildlife drive.

Dinner and overnight will be held at your camp or lodge.

Day 2: Full Day Game Drive in Maasai Mara

Today you will spend a whole day in the Maasai Mara viewing wildlife on a game drive. After breakfast, you will go on a full-day game drive, which includes a packed lunch. The reserve is well-known for its black-maned lions and plenty of resident species, and it’s one of the few areas where you may see the Big Five on a morning game drive. Many cheetahs are so used to automobiles that they seek shade from the blazing sun beneath them, and a few even climb onto the roof to obtain a better view of potential food.

Day 3: Transfer to Serengeti National Park- Tanzania

Start the day with an early morning game drive in the Maasai Mara as we drive out of the national reserve. After crossing the border, we’ll proceed to Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park. It will be a long day of driving, but the game drives into and out of the parks may be quite spectacular.

Dinner and overnight stay at a camp or lodge.

Day 4: Full Day Game Viewing in Serengeti National Park

You’ll spend the entire day in the Serengeti, with a flexible itinerary and limitless miles. As you ascend the slope, the huge Serengeti spreads out before you as far as the eye can see.

Serengeti means “endless plains” in Kiswahili, and this 6,900-square-mile (18,000-square-kilometer) park is home to more than 2 million big mammals, including over a million wildebeest, hundreds of thousands of plains zebras, and Thomson’s gazelles.

The amount of food that migrates around the park attracts large predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas. The region is home to many smaller wildlife, including rock hyrax, bat-eared fox, mongoose, honey badger, jackal, monkey, baboon, and African hare, as well as almost 500 bird species. Enjoy an afternoon game drive on your way to the campground.

Dinner and overnight stay at your private tented camp/lodge.

Day 5: Transfer to Ngorongoro Crater

Today, you’ll get up early for a morning safari before breakfast. This allows you to see the animals while they are more active and to enjoy a beautiful dawn. The dawn over the African savannah is one of the most magnificent sights. After the wildlife drive, return to the lodge for breakfast.

In the afternoon, transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, the world’s eighth natural wonder. With 2,000-foot-high walls and a crater floor spanning 102 square miles, the crater is a genuine Noah’s Ark, home to nearly every species of East African animals, including the uncommon black rhino. The crater contains the highest concentration of animals on the globe. The enormous bull elephants that live here have unusually long tusks due to the strong mineral content of the volcanic soil and grass.

Day 6: Crater Drive and Transfer Back to Arusha

For an amazing morning of wildlife viewing experiences in one of the most breathtaking locations on earth, we will begin the day extremely early and descend into the crater bottom. There will be time for a picnic lunch close to the stunning Hippo Lake following the wildlife drive. You will have time for a quick wildlife drive after lunch, after which you will climb the crater and leave the Ngorongoro Conservation Area heading to Arusha. Although we are flexible if there is a flight to catch or another circumstance, we anticipate returning to Arusha in the late evening.
