Detailed Itinerary for 12 Days Kenya and Tanzania Budget Safari
Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi
Meet up with your safari guide upon your arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. Transfer to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Nairobi- Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast, we head north to Lake Nakuru National Park, which is roughly three hours from the capital city. We arrive at the lodge for lunch before embarking on an afternoon wildlife drive across the National area in quest of the rare white rhinos and Rothschild, which are exclusive to this area in East Africa. There are many additional ungulates to observe in the park, and the vivid colors of the flamingos at the lake greet you in the afternoon.
Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge in Nakuru park.
Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Maasai Mara National Reserve
If you are staying in the park and want to go on an early morning game drive, you can. After breakfast, we will go to Africa’s most well-known wildlife reserve, the Maasai Mara. After a quick stop at the entrance for registration, we travel to the lodge/tent camp for a hearty lunch, with game drives along the way. The Maasai Mara is home to the big cats and the Big 5, so after lunch, we’ll head to the plains in search of the wildlife.
Retire back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Full Day Game Drive in Maasai Mara
You wake up at dawn for a morning game drive to witness animals begin their day, then return to the lodge/tented camp for breakfast. After breakfast, you head out into the forest for a full day of wildlife drives. The Maasai Mara is famed for the Wildebeest Migration, which brings over a million and a half herds from the Serengeti, joined by zebras and gazelles in search of grass and water. If you are lucky and have enough time, you may be able to observe the stunning river crossing at the Mara River.
Have dinner at your lodge inside the Maasai Mara.
Day 5: Cross Border and Transfer to Serengeti National Park
Have breakfast early in the morning at your lodge. Exit Maasai Mara and drive to the Isebania border, where you will clear immigration and drive to Serengeti National Park in northern Tanzania. You will go with a lunch box and spend the rest of the day searching for wildlife in the Serengeti grasslands. If we missed the wildebeests in the Maasai Mara due to timing, we will undoubtedly see them in the Serengeti National Park. Look out for wildlife such as lions, leopards, baboons, zebras, hartebeests, elephants, warthogs, and a variety of bird species.
Dinner will be served at your lodge.
Day 6-7: Full Day Game Viewing in Serengeti National Park
Depart for Serengeti National Park early in the morning, following breakfast. The Serengeti is incredibly breathtaking. It is noted for its broad open grasslands, which provide superb animal viewing opportunities. The Serengeti National Park is Tanzania’s oldest national park, as well as one of the world’s oldest ecosystems. Furthermore, the climate and vegetation have remained substantially unchanged for millions of years.
While the Serengeti National Park is home to a diverse range of species, the yearly Great Migration is undoubtedly its most famous feature. Massive herds of wildebeest, joined by vast herds of zebra and antelope, migrate annually in search of new pasture. The precise time of the migration is largely determined by the annual rainfall patterns.
Have lunch and another game drive before heading back to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Game Drive and Transfer to Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After breakfast, we check out and continue our game drives through the Serengeti, exiting via Naabi Hill Gate and entering the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. On our trip uphill to the Ngorongoro Crater Rim, we’ll make a quick halt in a Maasai Village. In the afternoon, we’ll check into the resort and unwind, or we’ll swim in the pool to escape the African sun. If you enjoy action, now is the time to go on a ranger-guided nature walk in the forest. It is conceivable to run into zebra herds, buffalo, duikers, and so on, but the Ranger will be equipped with a rifle, so don’t worry!
Day 9: Crater Game Drive
An early morning game drive is required since we are about to descend into the world’s biggest unbroken caldera, commonly known as the Eden of Africa or the eighth wonder of the world. With its unparalleled concentration of wildlife, the crater bottom will never cease to amaze you with creatures at close range, and if you’re lucky, you’ll sight the big five in a single day. Lions, elephants, silverback jackals, black rhinoceros, spotted hyenas, warthogs, leopards, and cheetahs are just a few examples. The meal will be served in the Hippo poolside picnic area. Later in the afternoon, you will travel back to your lodge for supper and an overnight stay at the lodge.
Day 10: Transfer to Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast, hit the road, this time heading down into the Rift Valley bottom to Lake Manyara National Park. This little evergreen park offers breathtaking views of the Great Rift Valley cliffs. The park is supplied by subterranean rivers, ensuring an abundance of animals all year round. The park’s most popular attractions are the flamingos and other aquatic birds, as well as the famed tree-climbing lions. Dinner and overnight stay at your lodge

Day 11: Game Drive in Tarangire National Park.
After breakfast, you’ll head to Tanzania’s third-largest national park, Tarangire. This stunning park is characterized by unusually huge herds of enormous elephants and massive baobab trees that dot the landscape. Tarangire National Park is also home to some of Tanzania’s rarest birds and animals, such as the Oryx. The Tarangire River is the lifeline of the wildlife in this park, transforming the riverside into a lively field of the wild as animals congregate despite the risk of predators as they seek the vital drop of water. Return to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 12: Morning Game Drive and Drop-off in Arusha
After having your breakfast, you will embark on a morning game drive or an optional nature walk near the park’s boundaries with a Maasai warrior. You will next proceed to Arusha, where the safari will conclude. From here, you will be driven to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your travel home. If you are flying from Nairobi, you will have three possibilities.
